YouTube Develops towards Popular Culture

June 28, 2010 Leave a comment

It is evident that the popularity of YouTube is continuing to grow. However, it proves that this media portal hasn’t practically changed from the moment of its origin.

It has been announced in tabloids that the Hulu will soon launch Hulu Plus, a subscription service. The user will have to pay $10 per month if he wants to get access to its full shows archive. Free access will give the possibility to watch 5 most recent episodes of each show.

The same rumours were spread concerning YouTube subscription services last year. Meanwhile, the site decided to make paid access to some of its media materials. This policy concerned primarily traditional classics such as MacGyver and Star Trek and included video rental services to this list.

There is such a feeling now that the site is going away from its premium content. At the very beginning of YouTube’s existence the major accent was made on its shows and movies – in other words on its premium content. But right at the moment this portal offers only popular stuff and everything what is advised.
In comparison with Hulu which proposes its subscription services, which is aimed at making money, and as a result is always under huge pressure concerning the quality of its content – YouTube doesn’t face such problems.

January 30, 2010 Leave a comment

Don’t get shocked if we tell you that the newly married actress Daljeet has turned chef and keeps herself busy cooking scrumptious meals in kitchen for hubby Shaleen. But yes! It’s true as post-marriage the actress had consciously looked into household business and tries to impress Shaleen with her culinary skills.

In a chit-chat with Daljeet she tells, “After marriage I was deliberately at home to learn the entire household work as I am on a break now and Shaleen is working for ‘Do Hanso Ka Joda’. Thus, I decided to pay attention on Shaleen as when I start working again, I won’t get time to look after him. So now-a-days I get up early in the morning and cook food for him and pack lunch for his shoot.” “Meals that have paneer (cottage cheese) and eggs are his favorite so I usually try something with paneer and egg, I don’t know whether I am a good cook or not but he always appreciates me for the varieties. And maybe due to this he has gained weight and in contrary I have lost my weight,” she rues smiling.

Well, great going Daljeet after all they do say that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach!

Angry Mika Threatens To Quit Music Industry!

January 30, 2010 Leave a comment

Angered by losing Mika claims to leave music industry! In coming episode of ‘Music Ka Maha Muqabla’ that is to be held on Saturday, January 30, 2010 on Star Plus there is a match between Mika’s team Blaster versus Shaan’s team Strikers.

And we hear that Mika, who has shared some famously unpleasant moments in the past with Shaan claimed, “Haaroonga to music industry chodd doonga” (If I lose I would leave the music industry).

Mika faces the threat of elimination in this episode if he loses. It’s a state that rests rather uneasily on Mika’s very proud head. A man who is at the top of his game– going by the number of hits he has delivered in the recent past. It is a fact that he commands tremendous fan-loyalty in the hundreds of shows he does each year, in India and abroad and has enthralled the largest attended shows on Indian soil.

But due to his repetitive failures Mika was outraged and even challenged that Mumbai, where the show is being hosted cannot account for his fan following- “Come to Punjab and see what Mika can do,” claims the proud singer.

Now what remains to be seen is if ‘Ibn E Batuta’ is really Mika’s last hit, because if he loses ‘Music Ka Maha Muqabla’ that is going on-air on Star Plus, January 30, 2010 at 9.30pm. he might not be heard again!

Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil is closing shop!

January 30, 2010 Leave a comment

One of Balaji’s more popular shows, ‘Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil’ is winding-up its story as the show goes off-air to be replaced by a different show on Star Plus.

Even though the characters of Heer played by Additi Gupta and Prem portrayed by Harshad Chopra are quite popular with the audience, still the all-time low TRPs have taken a toll on the run of the serial.

A reliable source from the sets informs, “The serial is in the process to wind up its story with a happy ending, for that the production house has decided to reveal all the loop-holes between the story of Heer and Prem. Thereby, setting everything straight and on the other hand, Juneja family will finally know about the culprit Viren (Yuvraj Malhotra) and that he is their real enemy and was deceiving the family till now. Thus, the Juneja family will take revenge on him.”

“The shoots for the same are going on and will come to an end within two days. The serial will definitely have a happy ending by sorting out the entire problem and we will have a great bash on the last day of shoot,” signs off the source.

Alas, all’s well that ends well, though we do hope that we can see the evergreen jodi of Heer and Prem back on small screen soon!

Spotted: Archu and Manav at Juhu Chowpatty!

Though they are fighting like cats and dogs and are on the verge of an on-screen divorce in the serial ‘Pavitra Rishta’, it seems there is no love lost between the two lead actor- Ankita Lokhande and Sushant Singh Rajput aka Archu and Manav. We hear the two are quite paly and cozy up late in the nights on pani-puri stalls after the shoot is over.

If sources are to be believed, “Yesterday, Archana and Manav were spotted at Juhu Chowpatty enjoying the delicious Pani Puri at one of the thelas (stall) and that too late in the night at around 9:30 pm.”

“The couple were draped very differently so that no could recognize them,” adds the source. We called up Sushant to confirm and he says; “Now-a-days we do have time-off from the shoots quite often, as we have bank for the coming episodes. So yesterday I and Ankita planned to hang around and have pani puri on Juhu beach which undoubtedly is the best place to have one.”

And if that leaves you with a gaping mouth, Sushant casually adds, “After the Pani Puris, we moved towards Worli sea face and spend some time over there. As Ankita was not in her make-up of ‘Pavitra Rishta’ and I wore a cap, no one could spot us and we were roaming there till late night.” Well what can we say great going guys and if we may add, we would like to see you together not only on-screen but also off-screen too!

Being Gomzy was hardest phase of my life -Sumeet Sachdev

January 30, 2010 Leave a comment

Sumeet Sachdev, the well- known television personality who found fame as Gomzy (Gautam) from ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’ has come a long way as an actor.
He has tried his hands on other creative aspects like production and direction and has made his directorial debut in short film ‘Rehman Saheb Ko Phone Karna Hai’. In a conversation he shares the hardest phase of his career and talks on how he paved his way to success with hard work to reach where he is today.

So how is Sumeet in real life?
Well, I would say that I am a very organized person, one who would not loose their cool easily. Though I do get irritated at times but that is my way to vent anger. Mostly I am so level headed that people actually end up calling me ‘boring’! (Laughs)
I would say that I am difficult to understand as I am the exact opposite of what is usually perceived of me by my character in ‘Kyun Ki…’ I love to be very particular in a nutshell it can be said I am ‘well organized’.

What was the hardest phase of your life?
There was nothing dramatic like the ‘hardest phase of life’ but yes! I had certain difficulties which did hit me hard. A struggling actor has some or the other ups and downs in their life and so did I. It was during ‘Kyun Ki…’ when I was a fresher in this field and was under intense pressure as I was about to connect with a big production house. I had lots of responsibilities to fulfill from my end, as I was soon going to be associated with such a big banner. So that period was a bit hard for me especially with my financial status. During that period I use to cook for myself, do all household work as I had no extra money to splurge on those luxuries.

Among all the roles that you have performed till date, which character is your personal favorite?
To be frank I can say that I enjoyed playing the part of Gomzy and the character will always remain dear to me. Even today, that name has given me recall value; people identify me as ‘Gomzy’ (Gautam), not Sumeet. I enjoyed playing that character and took it as a challenge; for me it was all the more special, as I was a fresher to the television world.
I also liked playing other characters, like Kabir and Prem of ‘Khwaish’. I learned a lot during this period of time. But Gomzy is something which is very close to my heart.

Any unforgettable moment of your career?
There are many, but one that shines through was when the whole cast and crew of ‘Kyun Ki…’ along with me was filming a scene at Juhu Beach, Mumbai. And as usual the crowd gathered to have a look at the shoot. The scene was being filmed on me along with the protagonist Smriti Irani aka Tulsi. The crowd was screaming and screeching to see me…it was a humbling and overwhelming experience at the same time, I felt as if I was on cloud nine. Beside this, my unforgettable moment of life was when I went to have a look at the ‘Solar Eclipse’ with my college friends, it was great to see a solar eclipse and for that I feel so lucky.

You took a two year long sabbatical, where have you been all this while?
I was busy with my documentary film, as along with acting in the film I was also busy writing and directing it. It was really time consuming and therefore I could not commit to any television ventures. Though right now I can’t tell much about the documentary except that it is titled- ‘Rehman Saheb Ko Phone Karna Hai’ and is a 43 minute short film.

So what are the future plans?
Well, I have some projects going on; meanwhile I am essaying a role in ‘Pyaar Ka Bandhan’ on Sony TV and would always be open for more good offers to come forward!
